House Tour : House of Stone

Different words come to mind of this Charlotte, North Carolina home. Opposite of its exterior stone appeal, expect to absorb tranquil, casual, and breezy interiors when you cross the threshold. None other than the amazingly talented, Pheobe Howard, impressed the homeowners with the sweet and soothing cottage feel interiors they desired.

We used pale gray-blue threads through the entire house to pick up on the cooler tones of the stone.

Howard's use of light neutral colors on the walls highlight the architectural details and large scale windows. She contrasted the reserved backdrops with eye-catching silhouettes. This casual, English-style home is blended with lovely antiques, large-scale windows, hard stone architecture, and soft fabrics. It’s a beautiful dwelling that feels lived in with age that could only be created with time. Hard to believe, this was a newly constructed home! I adore the relaxed yet romantic appeal the interior has as well as the exterior, showcasing custom blue painted shutters that pick up the coolest color in the limestone —pale blue, light gray, and honey gold. Take a look at Howard's House of Stone tour with the images below as well as sources featured in Traditional Home.
