Designer Spotlight: Lauren DeLoach

An Atlanta native, Lauren DeLoach embraces timeless Southern design with a fresh approach. Finding inspiration in architecture, antiques, and art, Lauren combines comfortable with classic to bring her updated traditional style to residences across the South. A sense of history in a home is a key element in Lauren’s philosophy.

Never afraid to incorporate warmer wood tones into her designs, DeLoach believes antiques add a sense of history to a room. I couldn’t agree more! There is something about the aging process of handmade original pieces from the past you can’t get with new furniture. A room always needs that warm patina to ground it.

I love incorporating a sense of history. This is why I always design with antiques, which add layers of time and living. You just can’t buy that new.

In an interview with Hello Lovely, DeLoach was asked to spill the beans on the details behind the decor and finish selections in the Southeastern Showhouse 2017 Project. You can read the full interview here from {Hello Lovely Studio}, but this last question is key to her great design aesthetic:

What guiding principles for creating a timeless space inform the project?

-Cross-reference some elements of your design; repeat a color or pattern or metal finish.

-More is more when it comes to fabric in a room. Drapes and pillows make the space!

-Antiques. Always and forever. Don’t be afraid to use them! Your grandmother would want you to!!
